□ 요약: Radioactivity is a spontaneous and continual decay or disintegration of certain unstable atom (neutron excess or deficient), with the release of certain radiations or particles and enormous amount of energy. The radioactive atoms is usually produced from various elements via the low energy neutron induced reaction in reactor and high energy neutron, photon and charged particle induced reactions in accelerators. Radioactive atoms have certain half-lives and decay with the emission of alpha or betta (+ or -) particles, gamma-rays, neutrons or fission products (spontaneous fission) as well as with the electron capture process. The emitted particles or radiations and thus the emitting radioactive isotopes have various applications to human kind in the field of medical, industry, agriculture, molecular biology, geological, archeological and research. So I shall give a brief presentation for the applications of radioactive isotopes in the above field and in particular reference to medical and industrial field. In medical field, the use of radioisotopes and radiations for the diagnosis of cancer and other disease as well their treatment has to be emphasized.
